Urban Students Receive Backpacks and School Supplies

The Urban Office on Park St. was filled with laughter and excitement as young Piapot urban students received their Piapot logoed backpacks filled to the brim with school supplies, courtesy of the band.

It took nearly a week to get over 300 backpacks and school supplies assembled and distributed. “It was a lot of work but I’m glad we did it,” says Kristin Francis, External Relations Coordinator and lead organizer of the initiative.

The idea came from Chief and Council, who thought it was something that needed to be done. “Children have to be equipped with what they need in order to have a better learning experience,” explains Chief Jeremy Fourhorns.

Thanks to the many volunteers who came to sort supplies and stuff backpacks – your help was invaluable!
