October 21st is the Federal Election Day in Canada.
Chief & Council is encouraging all Piapot First Nation residents (including non-band members) to get out and vote for a party that they think best represents their interests. Residents will have the opportunity to vote at the Band Hall on Monday, October 21st, between 7:30am to 7:30pm.
To be eligible to vote, you will need to prove your identity and mailing/home address. This can be done one of three ways:
- Showing your Drivers License.
- Showing two pieces of ID. Both must have your name and at least one must have your current address on it (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, etc.) Note – you can visit Band Office (between 8:30am-4:30pm) to receive a letter of confirmation of residence to use as second piece of ID.
- If you don’t have ID. You can still vote if you declare your identity and address in writing and have someone with you who can vouch for you. Note – Voucher must prove their identity/address and can only vouch once in this election.
Need a ride?
If you live on the reserve and need a ride, you can call the Band Office at (306) 781-4848 and arrangements will be made. Note – this service is only for on-reserve residents only. No ride pick-ups are available for off-reserve residents. If you live in the city, you are required to vote in the city.
